A trip to the land of sands

Soon, a lots of people were going to gather at the campus for Varchasva ’12, the sports and cultural fest of Hell.  A lots of girl, glamour and bullshit was going to get over the crowd in the coming couple of days. Folks were busy practicing for their sports , some were busy setting up meeting for the dignitaries coming up at the fest. A lot were busy handing a hell lot of other activities.  But there was something else going on in Room No. 1409. Niket and me were trying hard to fix a plan for our long trip from lucknow to Tanot mata. Tanot mata is a temple at Rajasthan– Pakistan border which is of high significance to the soldiers  posted at Longewala Post.  We were although excited only to think about a trip itself to  culturally rich Rajasthan and a chance to see the dunes for the first time. None of us ,even me who is from Rajasthan, has ever in their life seen the sand dunes.

We spent a whole lot of time planning to go only to the off beat places of rajasthan . No! certainly we had no interest in the alleys of Jaipur or the Nahargarh or the tourist laden City Palace. We tried to chose all those places which are either  less frequented by the tourists or have something unusual about it.

I hope you will like all the places we covered. Below is how we did it !

Day 1 : Shakti bhaiya sent us an old Tata  Indica, which was more or less giving the same look like a new one. Anyways it doesn’t matter, that was one of the lowest fare vehicle we people could afford for  such a long trip. The driver, although not only looked jolly but had a full flavor of “bhaiya” ness of U.P.  We started off at 2 in the noon. It was a good feeling to think about that we were gonna see a lot on this journey. This could be a journey we have always wanted. While on our way, we got a good news about our Short film winning a prize at XIMB Film Festival which  was an icing on the cake because we were going to get the cash prize in return which could probably be added to the budget of expenses we had decided for the trip.

Our Cab guy had a few problems in Kanpur trying to evade the Traffic police guys who if strolling on highways don’t have work other than asking for the “papers” of Gaadi. We got fix for a 1000 Bucks but we were allowed to move. We Passed Etawah, Firozabad, Agra, at the late night. We even got lost while bypassing Agra. There was no one who we could ask for our way to go to the NH. At a small trijunction, while looking for our way around, we came across a Sign board telling us the way for a place with a hillarious name ” Bitch puri”. We, the quick witted gang also came up with a quick slogan for the place ” Na aadhi na adhuri yahaan milti hai Bitch puri”.

Our First destination of the  plan was Bhangarh. After riding whole night and passing through the U.P. rajasthan border we were almost somewhere near Dausa in Rajasthan when our driver suggested a detour for Mehndipur Balaji Temple. Although we all heard about the place and knew some facts about it but were quite obnoxious about visiting it. But since we were on long vacation and had a lot of free time, we decided to give it a shot. Indeed that place was hell of crazy place. All type of  menand women having superstitious belief in god and its power could be seen there standing in a queue waiting for their chance to be treated by their God Balaji. Not to forget, this was 4 O’ clock in the night. It was certainly not a place for us.

We felt despair in their hopefulness

Starting again , we reached some  few miles before Bhangarh.  So Before we actually moved into this Scariest place of India, we got a little break to stretch out our legs, pee out a lot and do a little photoshoot which usually was a moment of randomness.

They though they were going to get a good pic with the background for their FB cover photo

So finally came the Bhangarh, featured in Discovery channel’s Top 30 Scary places in the world. Although we didn’t find any thing scary about the place but instead felt it as a pleasant site to have a day out.

A Shopkeeper, when asked if there is really any ghost in there, replied ” kya bhoot wagairah aayenge jahaan aadmi hi duniya ka sabse bada bhoot hai” was an amazing quote of the day we started off with our fort visit. To us, the fort was something e never expected. A beautiful meadow, well maintained, neat and clean and a small temple at the entrance. Although it was a ruined fort , but gave an appearance of being a mighty wall in the past.

So , after a long tiring night travelling and the day in the sun at Bhangarh we finally decided to get a night spent in jaipur relaxing and preparing for the next few exciting days to come.

Untouchability!!

I was watching a documentary “India Untouched(2007, Directed by Stalin K.)” some days back which was about how untouchability is still prevalent in the Indian society even almost after 60 years of independence. The video is a collection of the responses of the so called higher class, the lower class ,the villagers, priests, the educated and the illiterate, the women, the kids, the primary school teachers and so on. It spanned out whole of the India and thereby disproving the fact that the ill practice is done in only some parts of the country.

Some Benarasi Priest still holds the view that the Shudras can’t have the right to be equal to upper classes for which he gave the analogy that the foot can never be considered as important as the brain

Dalits ,being afraid of beaten up , don’t raise their voices or even take the help of constitution , and so ask their children to be distant from the temple

A primary school teacher in a village ask the Ravidasiyas( dalits) students to sit at the end of the class room( away from the Rawats ) and not to disturb the class(ask doubt) while he is teaching.

This may be understood from the very idea that these people are ignorant of the realities and have been fooled by the religious leaders and priests for the ages. But what is disturbing is tha fact that even the educated holds the similar views about untouchability

When asked a Educated girl ” Do you practice untouchability??” She suddenly said “NO”

But when she was asked “Would you marry a boy from a caste which is lower than yours or may be the one who is a Dalit ” She was standing quite.Unrepsonsive.

It felt so disturbing to me that the our education system has never included any course which could tell the fundamental and logical evolution of society and thus has been proving a failure in breaking the walls of discrimination we people have been practicing since the times almost all of us were illiterate. There should have been a change in our ill practices with the amount of progress we are making in other fields of technology, laws, health, growth of the country.I know only education can provide the solution but this has to be done

OcToPuS BaBa….

India launched PSLV with 5 satellites  on board ( A set of four satellites including Studsat built by students of seven engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Alsat from Algeria, two nano satellites from Canada and Switzerland, and a pico (very small) satellite called Oceansat 2 accompanied Cartosat 2 on its trip to orbit)that’s really a moment of great pride for Indians.

PSLV being Launched

and on the other hand…..

Germans who are still considered to be the best in their research and technology are believing in astonishment towards an eight legged octopus who must have never ever imagined how a football looks like. I mean what has happened to Germans. Are they the same who once were going to defeat the whole world with their most advanced war machines and  fighter planes.

How could they do something like we Indian liked to do for several ages which resulted in nothing but quite a huge plethora of ignorant and illiterate citizens. And not only Germans… it seems whole world is following octopus Paul.  Com’on yaar it’s bull shit. And stupid  Indian news channels will continue to show rubbish talks and discussion on Paul . Thanks to INDIA TV who produced Indian answer to Paul. Parakeet  the parrot predicted Netherlands as the winner against Paul’s  Spain.

Octopus Paul Deciding fate....

Its really disgusting to see humans looking at animals to know their fortune. At least for human”s sake we must understand that doing such thing is an act of showing or  letting in a feeling of disbelief in ourselves. And for sure ,if the human race has to develop or  to find a solution to their emerging global problems, these notions of oracle-ism and fortune telling has to be stopped. I am happy on the side that there are increasing number of literates  in India although slowly but continuously who are shedding away their petty thoughts on such beliefs  and leading their life with logical and reasonable thoughts.

AaMiR ThE “aVaTaR”

Aamir is a kind of a revolutionary who desperately wants India changed (transformed). And he has been executing his work not less effectively than either Mahatma Gandhi or legendary Bhagat singh. In RDB, he inspired youth not to complain but to take necessary actions. Again in lagaan he proved the famous saying “where there is will there is way”.That movie was also a fine example of “unity in diversity” which the people of our country really need to realize the importance of. An act of responsibility and courage is what we see in ACP ajay rathore (aamir in sarfarosh) despite having such a common Indian family background. Well, that’s not over he came up again with 3 idiots( based on FPS ,chetan bhagat) with an appealing message to the Education ministry. Every year we see thousand of suicides being committed by students either in engineering colleges or those who are facing board exam. That undue pressure on them should be removed by introducing some new practical approach for study/knowledge instead of “Marks driven” degree or a job.
Well aamir is like the one who has taken a avatar for us. He is carrying out some stupendous role in his life which i think a politician like sachin pilot or rahul gandhi should have been doing.A shame on them. But truly speaking, India badly need some more avatars like aamir who at least can inspire others in order to think of “India being a superpower” in 2020.
